Privacy Policy
Effective 13 August 2026SettleUs is a private family expense app. The short version: your data belongs to your family, is seen only by your family, and is never sold, shared, or used for advertising.
What we collect
- Account details. Your email address, a password stored only in encrypted, hashed form, and the display name you choose.
- Family details. Your family (household) name and its private invite code.
- The records you type in. Income and expense entries with amount, date, category, payee and notes; recurring rules such as rent, EMIs and salary; savings goals and festival pots; udhaar records including the names you enter for people you lend to or borrow from; and the bank balance figure you enter yourself.
- Receipt photos. Only the ones you choose to attach to an entry.
What we do not collect.
- We do not read your SMS, contacts or location.
- We do not connect to your bank.
- There is no advertising, and no analytics or tracking of any kind.
Where your data is stored
Data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers located in Mumbai, India. It is encrypted in transit over HTTPS and encrypted at rest. Database-level security rules ensure each family's data is completely walled off from every other family.
Who can see your data
Only the members of your own family, meaning the people who joined using your invite code. Every member of a family sees all of that family's entries. Nobody outside your family can see anything, and we never share or sell data to third parties. We would disclose data only if required by law.
How long we keep it, and how to delete it
Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time inside the app: Settings → Delete my account. This permanently removes your login, your name and your receipt photos immediately. If you are the last member of your family, all of the family's data is erased too. Copies held in routine server backups expire within 30 days.
Children
SettleUs is intended for adults managing a household. Anyone under 18 should use it only with a parent's or guardian's consent.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
